Sigma (σ) receptor subtypes, σ1 and σ2, are important pharmaceutical targets for diseases like Alzheimer's, Huntington's, neuropathic pain, and cancer. Despite significant interest, there is a lack of commercial tools to study them.
To address this, Celtarys has partnered with the University “Aldo Moro” of Bari to commercialize CELT-483, a fluorescent ligand that binds to both σ1 and σ2 receptors, developed by research group of Prof. Carmen Abate. CELT-483 has been validated in various fluorescence assays (like flow cytometry and confocal microscopy), and Celtarys also offers kits with selective masking agents for σ1 and σ2 receptors.
